Kunal Ghosh claims 4 BJP MPs will join TMC, sparks speculation on names
Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma has issued strict orders prohibiting weapons (trishul, sword or knife) in Ram Navami processions across the city. This directive follows BJP leader Dilip Ghosh’s public demand for armed rallies during the event. Verma stated that any individual found carrying weapons would face legal action, with cases registered against violators. Police officials have been instructed to enforce this order strictly, ensuring compliance in all processions.
According to Lalbazar sources, a high-level meeting was conducted to outline security measures. Following this, all police station officers (OCs) were directed to ensure that DJ music remains banned during the processions, as per existing regulations. Additionally, motorcycle rallies will not be allowed, and any unauthorized attempt to organize one will lead to vehicle seizure and possible arrests. Organizers of Ram Navami processions were summoned to specific police stations and handed official guidelines based on Calcutta High Court directives.
Security arrangements have been intensified across Kolkata to prevent any law-and-order disruptions. Surveillance has been increased in key areas, with additional forces deployed to monitor processions. Rapid Action Force (RAF) and police personnel will be stationed at strategic locations. Kolkata Police has also set up checkpoints to ensure that banned items, including weapons, do not enter the processions. Authorities have urged organizers to follow all guidelines strictly to avoid legal action.
